The Canton and Plymouth Education Squad (CAPES) believes every child deserves safety, dignity, and respect at school. Our community came together to champion the needs of Plymouth-Canton Community Schools’ most vulnerable students who too often face unique challenges and barriers.
Our mission is to advocate for equity and inclusion in every classroom and hallway. We work with families, educators, and allies to promote policies and practices that nurture belonging, protect rights, and help every child flourish—no matter their background or identity.
We are united by the values of compassion, justice, and solidarity. Through listening, learning, and action, we strive to create a community where all students can thrive and each child receives a quality education. If you believe in the power of collective action and want to help build a safer, more accepting school environment for all, join the squad!
Since our founding in January 2025, CAPES has been dedicated to advancing equity, inclusion, and support for vulnerable students in Plymouth-Canton Community Schools. Our members have organized around key issues, participated in public forums, and collaborated with community stakeholders to advocate for meaningful change.
Some of our accomplishments include:
Attending school board meetings to represent and voice the concerns of queer, immigrant, and marginalized students.
Facilitating conversations with district leaders about improving policies and fostering safer, more inclusive learning environments.
Providing resources and support for families navigating the school system, ensuring everyone has access to information and advocacy.
Identifying and supporting school board candidates who share our values for the November 2026 election. We are committed to providing volunteers to assist with door-to-door outreach and campaign efforts to help elect leaders who will champion equity and inclusion.
We are proud of our progress and continue to work towards building a school community where every child feels valued, welcomed, and empowered.
